Tango School

The School

Local Business Award Finalist 2022, Tango Sur Dance School has been operating in the Sutherland Shire since 2013. The school was the first in introducing Argentinian tango to The Shire residents. We hosted our first class at Saint John’s Church Hall on June 20th 2013. In February 2015 we moved to our current venue at Jannali Community Center. Meanwhile, in February 2019, we opened our first venue at The Fraternity Club at Wollongong thus bringing tango to the Illawarra region. Since March 2022 we host tango classes in Wollongong at Balgownie Village Community Centre. We are the only long established tango school in the Saint George and Sutherland areas and the Illawarra region.

Regular Classes

Classes are delivered once a week on Thursday nights at Jannali Community Center (Raymond’s Nock Venue), corner of Jannali Avenue and Mary street, Jannali NSW 2236. We teach Beginners, Intermediate and Advance levels. The school teaches classes of tango, milonga and vals.

Workshops

We organize along the calendar year tango workshops to help students further improve their technical ability to dance. This workshops generally focus in some of the important aspects that make this dance possible as walking, balance, weight changes, partner connection, turns and musicality.

Weddings

We coach wedding couples to make of their First Dance a very special moment and one of the highlights of their wedding day.

Group Social Monthly Night-Outs

Tango is a social dance, a great opportunity to celebrate, enjoy and share our passion for tango. We regularly organize social tango night-outs with our group of  students (specially those new to tango) to introduce them to Sydney’s tango scene.
